Blue Ramshorn Snails for Tropical Aquariums (Planorbidae). You will receive 5 snails, about 5-10mm long. They will grow to about twice that. (Please do check the second picture which shows a good example of what you will get.) These are juveniles, about 4 months old and they will live for up to 2 years. They start off with a translucent pinkish shell and their stunning blue colour develops as they grow. These snails are excellent algae cleaners and an essential part of any aquarium’s balanced ecosystem. They’re also quite mesmerising to watch! They are themselves food for larger fish but will multiply readily given the chance, so be prepared for that. Ramshorn Snails are tolerant of a wide range of fresh water tank conditions, comfortable up to about 25 degrees and will probably survive higher. pH levels of 7 to 8 are ideal. Our snails are well fed on a calcium rich diet to help with their shells. They won’t need any special care as they will just manage on the algae and won’t eat any live plants. If you would like to give them a treat try a slice of broccoli stalk, lettuce leaf, or any leafy vegetable. Please do research your other tank inhabitants to ensure compatibility and do remember to carefully acclimatise these new snails. We dispatch by 1st Class Royal Mail and post Monday to Thursday to avoid potential weekend delays. Snails are carefully packaged but should they not arrive safely please let us know and they will be replaced.
